President Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, warned that not enough "reasonable" Democrats, such as Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), are present to prevent a socialist takeover of the Democratic Party. Speaking on "The Glenn Beck Program," she said, "there are a few, at least, reasonable Democrats left out there, the John Fettermans of the world, who see this sort of thing, and they’re like, ‘Oh my god, this is the new party, and this is the face of our party,’ and they don’t want to see that happen."
Trump criticized the fact that only 13 Democrats signed a manifesto rejecting socialism, calling it "abysmal" that so few could support "common sense and capitalism."
Democratic socialists have recently made significant gains nationally, including the election of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) and successes in New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles.
Sen. John Fetterman, known for occasionally opposing his party's direction, warned about the rise of a "dirtbag left" following these socialist victories. In an interview with Fox News's Sean Hannity, Fetterman described those targeted for removal as "just good, traditional kinds of Democrats you would expect in New York City now," highlighting internal party tensions.
These developments indicate a growing divide within the Democratic Party as socialist candidates expand their influence beyond traditional strongholds.
