Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (D) on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump of “suffering from dementia” during an appearance on CNN. Anchor Kaitlan Collins asked Pritzker about recent comments made by Trump, including his claim that communism poses a greater threat to the United States than both world wars, the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the September 11 attacks.

“Look, the man is continually suffering from dementia,” Pritzker said. “I don’t think he really understands what he’s saying.” He further criticized Trump for threatening to jail the mayor of Chicago and the governor of Illinois, and for using the Department of Justice to target individuals. Pritzker added that Trump often blurts out ideas without thinking them through.

In response, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called Pritzker “a slob and an incompetent governor who pushes blatantly false narratives like this in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.” Ingle urged Pritzker to focus on fixing Illinois instead of making media accusations, and praised Trump’s “sharpness, unmatched energy, and historic accessibility,” contrasting it with what he described as media coverage that concealed Joe Biden’s mental and physical decline.

Separately, concerns about Trump’s health have been raised, as he turned 80 recently and has reportedly been under the care of nearly two dozen doctors. Raskin wrote, “In light of these troubling medical reports, so many unexplained signs of illness, and the existence of nearly two dozen different doctors on the case, the American people deserve honest and serious answers about whether he is up to the task.” The White House also faced questions after bruises were seen on the president’s hand, which were later covered with makeup.
