Australia secured a record seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title by defeating hosts England by seven wickets in a one-sided final at a sold-out Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on July 5, 2026.
Beth Mooney scored 64 runs off 49 balls and Phoebe Litchfield contributed 48 runs from 35 balls, forming a sparkling second-wicket century partnership that helped Australia chase down the target of 151 with 17 balls to spare. Mooney was named player of the tournament after leading an unbeaten Australian side throughout the competition.
England’s efforts included notable performances from Sciver-Brunt, who made 58 runs from 53 balls, and Kemp, who struck 44 runs from 28 balls, including a six off Sophie Molineux in the final over. However, England’s sluggish start left them too far behind to challenge Australia’s dominance.
Alice Capsey hit a six over deep mid-wicket off Ash Gardner but was later bowled by Molineux for 23. Heather Knight was dismissed lbw for two by Kim Garth, who took 1-20 in her four overs.
Litchfield praised her partnership with Mooney, saying, “We just tried to get the run rate down as fast as possible. ‘Moods made it look easy out there and took the pressure off me, and we had an awesome partnership. It’s always lots of fun batting with ‘Moods’, running hard and getting creative.”
Australia’s comprehensive victory follows their previous 16-0 multi-format Ashes win over England 18 months earlier, underscoring their continued dominance in women’s cricket.
