President Trump is scheduled to participate in a ceremony on Monday morning marking the launch of "Trump Accounts," new investment accounts for children officially launched by the Treasury Department on July 4. The event will take place in the Oval Office, with officials from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq joining the president. Trump will ring the opening bell from the White House, an event National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett described as the first time both stock exchanges will ring the bell together from the Oval Office.
As of Thursday, more than 6 million families had signed up to create an account, according to the Treasury Department. The Treasury will also contribute $1,000 to accounts of children born from January. Additionally, more than 50 companies have committed to contributing to the accounts of their employees' children.
An app for parents to fund their child's account and explore financial education modules was fully updated as of Saturday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.
Trump last rang the opening bell at the NYSE in December 2024, shortly after his return to the White House and following his recognition as Time Magazine's "Person of the Year."
Trading on the NYSE and Nasdaq runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
