Graham Platner, the Democratic candidate aiming to unseat Republican Senator Susan Collins in Maine, is facing serious rape allegations. Platner, who secured the Democratic primary and is positioned to flip the Senate seat from red to blue in the upcoming November election, was accused by Jenny Racicot of assaulting her in 2021.

Racicot met Platner through a dating app in 2019 and described their relationship as on-again, off-again. She alleges that during an incident in 2021, Platner entered her unlocked home despite her asking him not to come over. She recalled telling him, "Hey, I'm not into this," and noted that he was heavily intoxicated at the time. Politico corroborated her account by speaking with a man Racicot dated afterward and reviewing emails and messages between Racicot, her therapist, and acquaintances.

Additional controversy surrounds Platner's history, including a Nazi tattoo he obtained with other Marines in 2007, which he claims he did not understand the significance of, though a former girlfriend disputes this. He also reportedly has a history of roughing up girlfriends.
