Caroline Langdale, a Georgia angler, set a new state record in Idaho by catching a record-breaking brown trout on May 30 at the South Fork Snake River. After a challenging battle with the fish, Langdale measured it and then released it back into the river, qualifying the catch under Idaho's catch and release state fishing records.

Langdale expressed her surprise and gratitude, telling Idaho Fish and Game, “I never dreamed when I started my day of fishing with Ed Emory of South Fork Lodge that God was going to bless me with a fish of a lifetime.”

Idaho maintains two types of state fishing records: catch and release, and certified weight. This record falls into the catch and release category.

The catch took place during a fishing trip with Ed Emory of South Fork Lodge, a well-known outfitter in the area.
