Australia's Lynas Corporation and South Korean magnet manufacturer JS Link have signed an agreement to construct a rare-earth magnet factory in Malaysia. This initiative is part of broader efforts to develop supply chains for rare-earth products that do not depend on China.

The rare-earth concentrate used in these magnets is sourced from Lynas's Mount Weld mine in Australia. In 2019, Lynas workers were documented handling this concentrate before it was shipped to Malaysia for further processing.

This collaboration highlights a strategic move within Asia to diversify rare-earth magnet production and reduce dependence on Chinese supply chains.
