Michael Rapaport has publicly acknowledged a significant change in his perspective on former President Donald Trump, attributing this shift to the global crisis involving Hamas and the hostage situation in Israel.

During an episode of Jamie Kennedy's podcast, "Hate To Break It To Ya," the 56-year-old comedian described how his views evolved over time, moving away from derogatory name-calling toward a more respectful tone. Rapaport said that after Hamas attacked Israel and abducted hundreds of hostages, he realized the gravity of the situation and believed Trump was the only viable option to help secure their release.

"I knew that the only way that those hostages who were being held for weeks and then months and then a year, I knew that the only chance would be [Trump]," Rapaport said. He added that conversations with hostage families and the reality he witnessed made it "worth it for me to not be disrespectful to him because I fought, begged, prayed, pleaded to get the hostages home by any means necessary."

Despite this change in tone, Rapaport acknowledged he still finds Trump "infuriating" at times.

In addition to his comments on Trump, Rapaport revealed plans to run for mayor of New York City in 2029, aiming to challenge current Mayor Zohran Mamdani, known for his democratic socialist policies. Rapaport described his campaign approach as having a "New York City street fight mentality."
