Denise Nataly Migliore, a 51-year-old lawful permanent resident from Australia, was charged last month in a four-count federal indictment for making false statements to register to vote and illegally voting in federal elections in Louisiana.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Migliore knowingly made false claims about her U.S. citizenship in October 2022 and October 2024 to register for federal elections. In November of those years, she allegedly cast ballots after falsely certifying her eligibility as a U.S. citizen. Migliore was ineligible to vote because she is not a U.S. citizen.

Acting Assistant DHS Secretary of Public Affairs Lauren Bis stated, "This alien from Australia now faces federal charges for falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen and illegally casting ballots in two elections."

Her arrest and charges resulted from the efforts of ICE law enforcement and federal partners. The case is part of a broader crackdown on illegal voting, with FBI Director Kash Patel recently charging four non-citizens in New Jersey.

A statement emphasized, "Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should be electing American leaders."

Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul supports anti-ICE proposals that include banning police cooperation with ICE and allowing lawsuits against federal agents. Retired NYPD Inspector Paul Mauro criticized these measures, calling some unconstitutional and warning they could weaken inter-agency law enforcement collaboration.
