Lyndsey Fifield, who previously accused Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner of violent behavior in a New York Times article last month, has alleged that Platner had sex with her without protection and without her consent. According to a report by The Washington Post, Fifield said Platner removed condoms during sex multiple times in a "sneaky way."
CNN's Jake Tapper, referencing another woman who has accused Platner of rape, asked Fifield if she had similar experiences. Fifield responded, "Yeah. So, that was something that was really, I think, the worst and most violating part."
Platner's campaign responded by calling the claim "categorically false and politically motivated," noting that Fifield is the co-founder of Ladies for Kavanaugh, a group supporting Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who has also faced sexual assault accusations. The New York Post reported in 2018 that Fifield co-founded this group.
On Monday, Platner stated his campaign was "taking the time to reflect on the best path forward," following a Politico report in which another former partner, Jenny Racicot, alleged that Platner forced her to have sex while he was intoxicated five years ago. Platner denied all accusations of non-consensual behavior in a two-minute video posted online.
