TotalEnergies Ships First LNG Cargo from Mexico to Asia Amid Supply Route Concerns

French energy company TotalEnergies has shipped its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from a newly established export facility on Mexico's Pacific coast to Asia. This move comes as Asian markets seek safer and more reliable supply routes following disruptions linked to conflicts in the Iran region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint. The new Mexican terminal offers an alternative pathway for LNG shipments, reducing dependency on traditional routes vulnerable to geopolitical tensions.

A TotalEnergies tanker was loaded at the Mexican export facility and is now en route to Asia, marking a significant development in global LNG supply chains.
