Vice President Vance visited Milwaukee on July 8, 2026, to promote the administration’s crackdown on fraud within the H-1B visa program. He announced that the Labor Department has initiated investigations into foreigners involved in the program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers with specialty skills through employer-sponsored, nonimmigrant visas.

Speaking at the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 128th Air Refueling Wing, Vance stated, “Here’s a simple principle, ladies and gentlemen: American jobs ought to go to American workers and not foreign fraudsters, and the Department of Labor is fighting back against it.” He added that the department has sought dozens of subpoenas and launched multiple investigations.

Vance accused "big corporations and fraudsters overseas" of exploiting the H-1B visa program to undercut American workers’ wages, warning that those attempting to abuse the program will not be allowed into the United States. He also praised the Trump administration for saving “billions and billions of dollars” that he said were previously lost to fraud.

Criticizing congressional Democrats, Vance said, “Not a single congressional Democrat stood up and said we are going to fight back against fraud, and that’s the problem with modern congressional Democrats.” He further claimed they “would not recognize a party that tries to send your money to illegal aliens instead of our hardworking seniors who earned those benefits and ought to have access to them.”

Vance did not provide specific evidence to support his claims. He also mentioned Tiffany, a candidate for governor of Wisconsin, stating she “takes fraud as seriously” as former President Trump.
