Democratic Senator John Fetterman and Republican Senator Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania have established a bipartisan joint fundraising committee named Common Ground PA, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records filed on July 6, 2026. This unusual collaboration will collect donations benefiting both senators' campaigns.

The filing includes the leadership PACs and principal campaign committees for both Fetterman and McCormick as participants in the joint committee. Politico first reported the formation of this fundraising committee earlier this week.

The move has intensified speculation about Fetterman’s political future, with some observers suggesting he may be shifting rightward or considering a party switch. Nick Field, a local Pennsylvania politics writer, commented, “Fetterman caucusing with the Republicans in 2027, and even trying to run in 2028 with their support, looks likelier and likelier by the day.”

Mike Nellis, a Democratic political strategist, advised Democrats to assume that Fetterman “is a Republican going forward, and we can’t rely on his vote – especially when it comes to judges.”

According to the latest FEC filings, Fetterman for PA reported approximately $1.99 million in cash on hand.

In a May Washington Post opinion piece, Fetterman stated: “Being an independent voice that works with the other side to deliver for Pennsylvanians might put me at odds with the party that I have stayed committed to and have no plans to leave – but I will continue to put the commonwealth and the country first.”
