Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal has scored just one goal in the 2026 World Cup, during Spain’s group-stage 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia on June 21. Despite not scoring in Spain’s quarterfinal victory over Belgium, Yamal was named player of the match for his overall contributions and shared a touching celebration with his younger brother in Los Angeles.

Yamal, who turns 19 the day before Spain’s semifinal match, stated after the quarterfinal that "nobody will care about his lack of goals if Spain win the World Cup." He has also scored a notable goal in a 2-1 semifinal win against France during the campaign.

At a tournament where prolific scorers like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane have made headlines, the 18-year-old Yamal’s focus remains on helping Spain overcome the free-scoring favorites, France, as they aim for the title.
