KUALA LUMPURMalaysia is set to commence small-scale production of a homegrown graphene-enhanced lithium-ion battery for electric vehicles starting July 2026. This initiative represents a key milestone in Malaysia's strategy to advance its position in the technology manufacturing value chain.

The country plans to export these batteries to markets including Indonesia, South Korea, India, and Pakistan. NanoMalaysia CEO Rezal Khairi Ahmad described the battery project as "likely the first of its kind in ASEAN," highlighting its regional significance.
