A chain-reaction crash involving multiple tractor-trailers killed at least 10 people on Sunday, July 13, 2026, on a highway in Jalisco, a western state of Mexico. Four Americans caught in the incident suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Nayarit, the pileup occurred after a tractor-trailer reportedly experienced a braking system failure and crashed into several vehicles that were stopped due to a prior incident. Mexico's Army, Air Force, and National Guard stated in a post on X that nine people were killed, while the agency initially reported 10 deaths.

Jalisco Civil Protection informed Reuters that the four Americans were transferred in minor condition to the Arboledas Hospital in Guadalajara by a private ambulance. Additionally, two seriously injured National Guard members were taken to a hospital in Guadalajara. The crash also caused material damage to two private vehicles and an official Dodge Charger unit belonging to the National Guard.

The collision resulted in three private vehicles and two tractor-trailer trucks being completely destroyed by fire. Emergency responders worked to extinguish the burning vehicles following the devastating highway collision.
