Joe Amabile, a reality TV personality who first gained attention as "Grocery Store Joe" on Becca Kufrin's season of "The Bachelorette" in 2018, recently disclosed a serious health update. What began as a routine full-body scan unexpectedly revealed a lesion in his brain.

Amabile shared in an Instagram video, "So a little medical update. I didn’t share my Prenuvo results because they ended up finding a lesion in my brain." Further testing with a brain MRI showed the lesion to be about the size of a blueberry and likely a glioma, a type of tumor.

He explained, "So I now need to get brain surgery [in two weeks] to get it removed and get it tested, and then we’re gonna go from there." Reflecting on the diagnosis, Amabile said, "So it’s been a wild couple weeks. Definitely wasn’t expecting this."

Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, who met on Season 7 of "Bachelor in Paradise" and got engaged during the 2021 finale, have been navigating this unexpected health challenge together. Amabile expressed surprise at his situation, saying he never expected to find himself facing brain surgery.
