Dong Nai province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City and home to the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport, is actively working to leverage its status as Vietnam's largest city by area to attract more foreign direct investment. The Long Thanh International Airport, whose main terminal was still under construction as of June 2024, is expected to become a key transportation hub for southern Vietnam.

This initiative aligns with the central government's ongoing administrative reforms aimed at increasing efficiency. Dong Nai's strategic push to develop airport links is part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam oversees the Long Thanh International Airport project, which is anticipated to play a significant role in the transportation infrastructure of the area.
