On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Philadelphia, baseball legend Justin Verlander and model Kate Upton made what is likely their final walk on the MLB All-Star Red Carpet. Verlander, the All-Star Game's "Legend Pick," is set to retire at the end of the season.
During the event held at Independence Mall, Verlander addressed questions about a potential comeback. The 43-year-old future Hall of Famer expressed doubt about returning to play, stating, "Sure. Here we are at the All-Star Break and I can't get healthy and pitch..." He added, "I don't know if there's much you can do at this point," but remained hopeful, saying, "But hopefully, I get healthy in the second half, you know? You know that's what I'm trying to do."
Verlander also mentioned that his teammate Tarik Skubal encouraged him by saying "all the best come back."
The event featured other MLB stars such as Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates, who also posed with their families and partners during the All-Star Red Carpet Show presented by Mastercard.
Photos captured by MLB Photos and Getty Images documented the occasion, including Verlander posing with his wife Kate Upton and family at Loews Philadelphia.
