Louis Vuitton Malletier has filed an administrative lawsuit against the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), with a Chinese individual, Huang Minyao, joining as a third party. The case was brought before the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, as noted in a May court notice.

The exact trademark dispute involved in this lawsuit has not been disclosed. This legal action is part of a broader pattern of litigation by Louis Vuitton in China, where the company has faced 58 judgments and court summonses this year, mostly concerning trademark issues.

Additionally, 11 more trademark infringement cases involving Louis Vuitton are scheduled for hearings between mid-July and the end of August, according to court notices compiled by Qichacha, a Chinese corporate database.

This is not Louis Vuitton’s first lawsuit against China’s trademark regulator. A similar administrative case was heard by the Beijing court in March, with CNIPA and a third-party individual as defendants.

Louis Vuitton is also managing public backlash in China related to a separate legal dispute with a local milk tea brand.
