Nick Faldo, a six-time major champion and World Golf Hall of Famer, has openly criticized Bryson DeChambeau for his strategic approach to links golf ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

The 68-year-old golfer expressed his views during an interview with Sky Sports, stating, "He has — I’d say it to his face — he has zero clue of strategy."

Faldo referenced a statement DeChambeau made last year on television, where the 32-year-old said, “I’m going to go out and attack the links.” Faldo countered this by explaining, "Well, I’ve never attacked a links. You thread it, don’t you? You feed it down the fairway."

He further elaborated on the challenges of links golf, noting that even a well-hit ball can land on the corner of a divot and miss the fairway. "So, you’ve got to think, how do I get it on the short grass? It is so important, and he’ll stand up and just keep bombing away," Faldo said.

Faldo also commented on the performance of LIV Golf players like DeChambeau, saying, "That’s a whole part of the story, how they’re superstars at LIV then come over and can’t do it. So that’s all another story. Then they go back to be superstars."

DeChambeau qualified for this year’s Open Championship after finishing in the top 10 last year.
