A Canadian woman residing in New Jersey, Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, was taken into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody this week after police charged her with allegedly slapping a teenage girl wearing sweatpants bearing the words "Trump" and "ICE."

The incident occurred on the night of Friday, July 3, 2026, on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk. According to police, Tracey approached a group of four teens while recording them on her phone. Officers reported that she yelled at two of the girls about their "patriotic colored sweatpants with political wording" before striking one victim once on the body and once on the face with an open hand. The teenage girl was not injured, and her age was redacted in court filings.

Surveillance footage helped identify Tracey after she left the scene without providing identification. Police obtained an arrest warrant, and she was taken into custody without incident at Point Pleasant Beach police headquarters on Monday, July 13, 2026. She was initially lodged in the Ocean County Jail before being transferred to ICE custody at Delaney Hall, an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.

Tracey faces charges including endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction. She is a Canadian citizen who entered the United States with a passport in 2024. Police listed her residence as Allenhurst, though her husband stated the couple lives in Asbury Park.

Following her arrest, Tracey's husband, Geroni, created a GoFundMe page to help cover her legal expenses but later removed it after opposition from a group of Facebook users.
