William Upham, a former Marine and Republican write-in candidate for Florida's 5th Congressional District, posted a nearly seven-minute video on social media in which he called President Donald Trump "the Antichrist" and stated that Trump "must be killed."

Upham, who describes himself on X as a prosecutor "running to fix a broken political system," initially said he entered the race to restore bipartisanship and return power to the working class. However, the tone of the video shifted as he expressed his belief that the country is "broken" and engaged in a spiritual battle.

In the video, Upham said, "We are led by a president who is the enemy of God," citing Bible passages and referencing the oath he took as a Marine officer to defend the Constitution "against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

His remarks prompted condemnation from the Marine Corps, which noted that Upham was medically discharged in May 2025. The U.S. Secret Service also responded to the video.

This incident comes amid ongoing threats and assassination attempts against President Trump, keeping security concerns in sharp focus two years after the Butler incident.
