An Israeli attack on Tuesday, July 15th, 2026, in northern Gaza’s Jabalia camp killed the director of a police station and several officers, contributing to an escalating civilian death toll.

Despite a months-long ceasefire, Israel continues to conduct deadly raids across Gaza, citing threats from Hamas fighters. However, political and strategic analysts suggest these incursions are part of a deliberate pattern targeting law enforcement, medical professionals, government officials, and intellectuals.

These targeted killings risk derailing the United States-backed post-war plan for Gaza and paralyzing the Board of Peace, an entity established under the Trump administration to govern Gaza and eventually replace the Israeli military presence.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Israel has normalized daily breaches and killings in Gaza, effectively disregarding the pact’s restrictions on its military operations, analysts say.

The ongoing violence has resulted in at least 73,233 deaths and 173,707 injuries since October 7, 2023. According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, there have been 3,689 recorded Israeli violations during the 275-day ceasefire, causing 1,122 Palestinian deaths and 3,599 injuries. The Palestinian Ministry of Education reports the deaths of at least 441 teachers and other personnel, along with over 11,000 schoolchildren.

Mustafa, a political commentator, stated, “What Katz said sparks no debate in Israel; this is the general mood inside Israel — that Israel must destroy the Strip, and this is what it is doing,” highlighting that resettling Gaza remains a core government objective.

Von Schirach, another analyst, noted, “The Board of Peace was supposed to gradually take the reins, control the Strip to establish a form of governance … and eventually bring in a peacekeeping force to maintain order, thereby removing the Israeli army and disarming Hamas. None of that has happened, or is happening.”
