Mike Trout, the Los Angeles Angels outfielder, shut down speculation about leaving the team despite their ongoing struggles. Speaking at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game held at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park—approximately 40 miles from his New Jersey hometown—Trout acknowledged the challenges but emphasized his motivation to help the Angels return to the playoffs.

"Could I take the easy way out and just leave? Yeah," Trout said. "I think the fuel of people doubting us kind of makes it more of a fire for me to try to get back to the playoffs."

The Angels have not reached the postseason since 2014, marking the longest active playoff drought in Major League Baseball. The Pittsburgh Pirates follow with their last playoff appearance in 2015. Entering the All-Star break with a 38-59 record, the Angels face steep odds to reverse their fortunes this season.

Trout made his major league debut with the Angels in 2011 and has been selected to the All-Star Game 12 times, including this year. However, the franchise has only reached the playoffs once during his tenure.
