Nearly every member of the House Democratic Caucus has signed a letter demanding an independent investigation into two fatal shootings carried out within a week by officers of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The lawmakers emphasized the need for "immediate independent investigations into both of these deaths, without interference," according to the letter.

This call comes amid growing scrutiny of ICE's actions and the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Nearly 200 House Democrats joined the demand, underscoring the urgency and bipartisan concern over the incidents.

The investigations are expected to focus on the conduct of ICE officers involved and ensure transparency and accountability.
