Flash flood emergencies were issued on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, for parts of Kerr and Uvalde counties and the Texas Hill Country, where life-threatening flooding has taken hold following up to 20 inches of rainfall in some areas. This severe weather event comes just one year after the region experienced catastrophic flooding that claimed more than 100 lives.

Emergency crews have been conducting water rescues in affected areas, including regions around the Guadalupe River and the Pedernales River. At least one person has died during these rescue operations, underscoring the dangerous conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) provided morning updates confirming the flash flood emergencies and ongoing rescue efforts.
