Recent cases of the intestinal illness cyclosporiasis have been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at some Taco Bell locations across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, according to a source familiar with an investigation by the Food and Drug Administration.

ABC News reached out to Taco Bell on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, but did not immediately receive a response. Earlier that week, on Tuesday, the restaurant issued a statement emphasizing, "The health and safety of our guests is our top priority ... We will continue to closely monitor the situation and follow the guidance of public health authorities."

The investigation remains ongoing as public health officials and Taco Bell work to address the outbreak and prevent further cases.
