New South Wales police have charged a 28-year-old semi-trailer driver with negligent driving in connection with a multi-truck crash that occurred on June 30, 2026, at the Windmills Rest Area in Breadalbane, about 32 kilometres south-west of Goulburn.

Emergency services arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. to find multiple trucks on fire. The blaze destroyed six semi-trailers after two trucks collided and caught fire, which then spread to four other trucks parked in the rest bay.

An exclusion zone was established due to reports of explosions and the presence of flammable materials. Among the cargo were eight tonnes of butane cans, resin, memory foam, and alcohol, the latter of which Fire and Rescue NSW said fueled the explosion.

The driver is scheduled to appear before the Yass Local Court on August 27, 2026.
