More than 1,000 speedcubers representing 53 countries are competing in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from Thursday, July 16th to Sunday, July 19th, 2026. The European Speedcubing Championship is taking place at Sportcentrum Valkenhuizen and is organized under the rules of the World Cube Association.

The event showcases a wide range of disciplines including traditional speed solves, one-handed solving, blindfolded challenges, and novelty events such as solving Rubik’s Cubes while wearing oven mitts. Volunteers play a crucial role behind the scenes by scrambling cubes and preparing them for each round, while specialist vendors offer lubricants to ensure smooth puzzle performance.

Kyle Renatus, a competitor and member of the World Cube Association communications team, highlighted the strong sense of community within the sport, calling it one of its biggest attractions.

This championship reflects the growing international appeal of speedcubing, bringing together enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to compete and celebrate the puzzle-solving sport.
