Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina has indicated that Darline Graham, who was appointed as the interim replacement for her late brother Lindsey Graham, could be a candidate in the upcoming November race to fill the Senate seat.

Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, praised Darline Graham’s performance since her appointment by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. He told CBS News, "Darline has so far been off to a remarkable start," and described her demeanor during this difficult period by saying, "A Graham is a Graham is a Graham."

Darline Graham was appointed to serve the remainder of Lindsey Graham’s term, which ends in January. Lindsey Graham had served in the Senate since 2003 and was a prominent figure partly due to his close relationship with former President Donald Trump.

The race to succeed Lindsey Graham remains wide open, with many potential candidates expressing interest. Meanwhile, South Carolina Republican Party critics have questioned the ability of Evette, who lost a primary by double digits, to compete against Democrat Annie Andrews, a physician who won her primary on June 9.

Former Congressman Trey Gowdy, known for chairing the committee investigating Hillary Clinton's response to the Benghazi attack, left the House in 2019 and now hosts a Fox News show.

Darline Graham has expressed her commitment to "work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother."
