Fiji will hand a debut to centre Virimi Vakatawa when they face Scotland in the Nations Championship on Saturday, July 18, 2026, reviving his international career after earning 32 caps for France.

Vakatawa's stint with France ended abruptly four years ago due to a heart abnormality detected in medical examinations. He returned to club rugby a year later with Bristol. Now 34 years old, he meets World Rugby's eligibility rules to switch national teams, having not played for France in over 36 months. Vakatawa replaces Kalaveti Ravouvou, who was part of the team defeated 73-8 by England in Liverpool last Saturday.

In addition to Vakatawa's inclusion, Fiji announced four backline changes: Simione Kuruvoli, banned after being sent off against England, is replaced at scrumhalf by Frank Lomani. Among the forwards, lock Temo Mayanavanua replaces Tevita Ratuva, while loose forwards Pita-Gus Sowakula and Elia Canakaivata return to the starting lineup.

Fiji has ceded home advantage for this match, as they did in their recent games against Wales and England.
