During the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, July 16, 2026, NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice charged into the gallery after a fan mockingly yelled "Fore!" following one of his tee shots.

Rice, 63, who was competing alongside sports stars including Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley, and Tony Romo, ducked under the ropes with his club in hand and bolted toward the crowd before anyone could react. A nearby fan identified the suspected heckler as Rice confronted the spectators.

The San Francisco 49ers legend was in the middle of his round and ultimately finished 42nd out of 90 players in the field.

This incident follows a previous moment at last year's American Century Championship when Rice snapped at reporters after perceiving questions about the Kansas City Chiefs as criticisms of his former team, the 49ers.
