SINGAPORE — The National Parks Board (NParks) announced on Friday, July 17, 2026, that it will progressively expand crow shooting operations to more districts, including Bukit Panjang, Marine Parade, and Tanah Merah. This decision follows the culling of over 500 crows since the initiative began in March 2026.

The initial shooting operations started on March 24, 2026, in nine districts: Bishan, Jurong, Kranji, Punggol, Sembawang, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Woodlands, and Yishun. The expansion is driven by factors such as the presence of large crow populations, the suitability of sites for safe shooting, and crows' aversion to traps.

Mr How Choon Beng, NParks' group director of wildlife management, emphasized that shooters must adhere to strict protocols as part of enhanced safety controls. He noted, "Site conditions also vary from location to location, which requires for the shooters to adapt accordingly while maintaining full compliance with the safety controls."

Crow shooting is intended as a complementary measure to augment existing crow management efforts, which will continue alongside the progressive implementation of shooting operations. NParks highlighted that house crows are an invasive non-native species posing a threat to Singapore's native biodiversity. The agency also pointed out that crows are highly adaptable and capable of detecting and recognizing danger, making their behavior difficult to predict.

Crow shooting had been discontinued in 2020 after incidents where pellets from shotguns struck homes near the operations. The current operations have resumed with enhanced safety measures.
