Samsung Electronics America (SEA) announced it will reduce its workforce by 739 jobs at its Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey location, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) reviewed by Reuters on July 19, 2026. SEA, which manages sales and marketing of Samsung's displays, phones, TVs, and home appliances in the United States, employs approximately 1,200 workers in New Jersey.

The WARN notice, required by U.S. law for mass layoffs or plant closures, was first reported by Reuters. Samsung stated the affected unit, focused on consumer electronics and excluding its semiconductor business, is preparing to relocate its headquarters to Texas by the end of 2026.

"This process may lead to changes in our workforce structure, such as employees who are unable to relocate, or certain functions that are optimized to ensure our roles align to key business priorities," the company said. Samsung also emphasized that most affected employees have been offered relocation opportunities and that it is incorrect to characterize the changes as layoffs.

The New Jersey district includes U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer, who was referenced in a prior press release regarding SEA's workforce.
