Tania Differding and Ella Crofts first met as teenagers through their boyfriends, who were friends, when they were 19 years old. Since then, the two have remained inseparable, sharing a deep bond that has lasted over two decades.

The best friends, now aged 43, live in Geelong/Djilang, Australia, and are planning the rest of their lives around one another. Their plans include caring for each other in old age and purchasing neighbouring cemetery plots to remain close even after death.

Reflecting on their early days, Ella fondly recalls their time hitting the rave scene wearing bracelets that read, "If lost return to Tania/Ella." They also had matching 1-megapixel digital cameras but took no photos, as they were too busy enjoying themselves.

Tania describes Ella as a bubbly blonde with a unique style full of color, sequins, and glitter. They both lived at home during their youth, with Tania often picking Ella up in her Holden Gemini.

Their friendship has also been a source of support during difficult times. Four years ago, Tania cared for Ella during a mental health breakdown when Ella was diagnosed with depression, ADHD, and anxiety.

Both women have family histories of early onset Alzheimer's disease. Despite this, they remain optimistic, knowing that even if they lose their memories, their bond will endure, which brings them comfort.

As they put it, "Everything is fleeting, and we like to make the most of life while we can. Love it while it's there and know that it could end at any moment. And that is OK."
