Conor McGregor disclosed the details of his right knee injury sustained during his brief return to the UFC octagon on July 11, 2026, in Las Vegas. During UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena, McGregor lost by technical knockout (TKO) to Max Holloway. He revealed that he suffered ACL and meniscus injuries in his right knee, the same injury he had in his first fight against Holloway, but this time on the opposite leg.
McGregor expressed surprise at the injury, stating, "I had no injury/injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell."
Reflecting on the injury's timing, McGregor noted the coincidence of it happening over a decade after their first fight and is maintaining a positive mindset. He also shared gratitude and optimism, saying, "I wonder was I saved from something worse here. I believe so. I would have attended the after party as ‘the man’ and who knows then. I believe I was saved. Thank you God! On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth."
The 38-year-old Irish fighter's UFC career record now stands at 22-7 following the TKO loss, but he appears ready to recover and return to competition.
