Conor McGregor disclosed the details of his right knee injury sustained during his brief return to the UFC octagon on July 11, 2026, at UFC 329 in Las Vegas. The Irish fighter lost by technical knockout to Max Holloway and described the injury as "quite shocking" upon learning the results.

McGregor revealed he suffered ACL and meniscus injuries in his right knee, the same injury he had in his first fight against Holloway 13 years ago, but this time in the opposite leg. He emphasized that he had no prior injuries going into the fight, stating, "I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell."

Despite the setback, McGregor expressed gratitude and optimism, saying, "I wonder was I saved from something worse here. I believe so. I would have attended the after party as ‘the man’ and who knows then. I believe I was saved. Thank you God! On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth."

The fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and marked a significant moment as McGregor's UFC career record moved to 22-7 following the TKO loss. McGregor appears determined to recover and return to the octagon.
