American streamer IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, experienced a memorable encounter with all seven members of BTS backstage at MetLife Stadium during the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, July 20, 2026.

While livestreaming the match from a stadium suite during extra time, with the score still 0-0, someone off-camera informed him that BTS were nearby. Spotting members RM and J-Hope in the hallway outside the suites, Speed excitedly called out for a photo. J-Hope greeted him first, and the two shared a hug amid mutual excitement.

Speed then greeted each BTS member with hugs and handshakes before performing one of his trademark backflips, eliciting cheers and laughter from the group. Still visibly overwhelmed, he repeatedly exclaimed "Oh my god" and "This is lit," telling the group, "Big fan, bro."

BTS had performed their hit song "Dynamite" during the World Cup halftime show, produced by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, alongside performances by Shakira, Madonna, and Justin Bieber.

Following the World Cup, BTS plans to tour North America, Canada, and South America before returning to Asia in November. They have four concerts scheduled in Singapore on December 17, 19, 20, and 22.
