Second Lady Usha Vance gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday morning, July 19, 2026, marking the first time a sitting second lady has been pregnant or given birth in 156 years.

Vice President Vance announced the birth of their son, Alec Neel Vance, in a statement posted to social media, saying, "Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother."

He expressed gratitude for the care provided by the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit, calling them "a blessing" to the family.

The Vance family now includes four children: sons Ewan, Vivek, and Alec Neel, and a daughter named Mirabel. Their most recent child before Alec was born in December 2021 while Vice President Vance was campaigning for Senate in Ohio.

Vice President Vance has indicated he is not likely to take parental leave following the birth of their fourth child.

This birth follows White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s delivery of a baby girl in May 2026. Leavitt took a brief leave of absence and returned to her duties in the briefing room on Thursday.
