President Donald Trump will travel to Delaware on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to attend the dignified transfer ceremony for three American soldiers killed in the ongoing conflict with Iran in the Middle East, the White House announced on Monday, July 20.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on social media, “President Trump will attend the dignified transfer of our fallen heroes tomorrow evening at Dover Air Force Base. The President and the entire White House are praying for their families.”

It is customary for U.S. presidents to attend these ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base, the primary transit point for flag-draped caskets of soldiers killed in conflict.

Two U.S. soldiers were killed on Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19, at a base in Jordan due to Iranian missile attacks, according to military reports. A third American soldier died Saturday, July 19, in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of an Iranian drone.

These deaths have raised the American toll in the Iran conflict to 17.

President Trump has pledged to seek retaliation for the soldiers' deaths amid renewed hostilities following a ceasefire in late June and early July. On Monday, he wrote on social media, “Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military.”
