Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, has announced her endorsement of Rep. Ralph Norman in the upcoming special Senate election to fill the seat left vacant by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham. This endorsement marks a notable departure from former President Donald Trump, who has thrown his full support behind another candidate, urging her to "run, Darline, run" in a Truth Social post following a White House meeting.
Mace described the election as "a once-in-a-generation opportunity to send a tried-and-true conservative warrior to the United States Senate," praising Norman by saying, "Ralph Norman doesn't bend, doesn't break, and doesn't back down."
Norman expressed that he was "honored" to receive Mace’s endorsement. He highlighted his conservative credentials, stating, "If you want a proven conservative with a 100% conservative voting record, Ralph Norman is the man. I'm all in, and South Carolina should be too."
Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsey Graham has secured endorsements from key Senate allies, including Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso of Wyoming, who called Graham "an excellent senator" and pledged his full support.
Both Mace and Norman have criticized another candidate, Fry, warning that his Senate bid could jeopardize the House Republicans’ slim majority and potentially shift power to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats.
The special election in South Carolina is shaping up to be a contentious contest with significant implications for the balance of power in Congress.
