On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Senator Mark Warner, the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, called on banks and trading firms to reject a newly launched product providing early access to posts on former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform. Warner described the product as creating a "very troubling form of information asymmetry" regarding government policies.
Earlier in July, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) introduced a paid, licensed data feed called "Truth API." This service offers financial firms the fastest access to posts from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts, including Trump's, whose posts have significant market impact.
Warner urged the leaders of six major financial industry trade groups to publicly disavow the arrangement, warning it could enable Trump to personally profit from market-moving presidential communications. In a letter, he stated, "I urge you to make clear that the financial services industry will not legitimize an arrangement that sells privileged access to market-moving presidential communications, especially for the president’s personal financial benefit."
Reuters reported, citing sources, that TMTG has discussed charging Wall Street traders and investment firms up to $100,000 per month for faster access, with a discounted rate of $60,000 per month for firms committing to three years.
While lawyers note that tech platforms generally can offer early data access even if it disadvantages some market participants, ethics experts find this case unusual because Trump's posts are government information.
Requests for comment to the Bank Policy Institute, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, Managed Funds Association, Financial Services Forum, Principal Traders Group, American Bankers Association, and TMTG were not answered. The White House deferred comment to TMTG.
