A Fox News poll conducted from July 17 to 20, 2026, shows that 56% of registered U.S. voters oppose military action against Iran, with 40% strongly opposing such measures. The survey, which included 1,003 respondents interviewed via landlines, cellphones, and online, also found that 64% of voters believe the conflict with Iran will last a year or more, marking a 13-point increase since May.

Disapproval of President Donald Trump's handling of the Iran situation reached a record high in July, with his current approval rating at 39%. This figure is comparable to former President Joe Biden’s 40% approval in July 2022 and former President Barack Obama’s 42% in July 2014, both during midterm election summers. Trump's support among voters has dropped 13 points since last month, down to 51% approval after reaching 70% at the start of his second term.

The poll highlights partisan divides: 84% of Democrats oppose the war, exceeding the 76% of Republicans who support it. Among those who support military action, 56% expect the conflict to conclude within weeks or months, whereas 80% of opponents anticipate it lasting at least a year.

Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who collaborated on the Fox News Poll with Democratic counterpart Chris Anderson, noted that "During the Biden administration years, immigration attitudes were often defined by border security considerations," adding that "Today, immigration enforcement and ICE often dominate, eroding the GOP’s edge on the issue."

The survey reflects significant voter skepticism about prolonged U.S. involvement in Iran and declining presidential approval amid ongoing tensions.
