MARIETTA, Ga. — On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, President Donald Trump traveled to Georgia to rally support for Republican Representative Mike Collins, who is running for the U.S. Senate against Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff.

At a packed gymnasium at Wheeler High School, Trump described Collins as one of the most “highly respected” members of Congress and urged voters to back him. Trump criticized Ossoff, referring to him as "Pee-wee Herman," and claimed Collins would bring significant action back to the state.

The race is closely watched nationally, with Republicans facing challenges due to Ossoff's substantial fundraising advantage. Ossoff has raised $77 million this election cycle, while Collins, after a costly and contentious GOP primary, has raised $6.5 million and holds about $2 million cash on hand compared to Ossoff’s $42 million as of June 30.

Collins was not present at the rally due to key votes in Washington. Despite Ossoff's incumbency and financial lead, the Cook Political Report, with analyst Amy Walter, rates the seat as "leans Democratic" but still competitive.

Separately, Jackson announced that if elected governor, he would advocate for Georgia lawmakers to match the federal government’s initial $1,000 investment contribution for Georgia families participating in related programs.
