David Elliott Pritt, 36, a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing Fayette County, was arrested and federally charged with enticement of a minor, according to court documents and a federal affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.
Prosecutors allege that Pritt used the popular online gaming platform Roblox and social media to groom a 15-year-old student and persuade her to engage in illegal sexual activity, including producing child sexual abuse material. The alleged abuse reportedly took place at Oak Hill High School and began while the girl was an eighth-grade student during the 2024-25 school year when Pritt taught middle school in Fayette County.
The investigation started after the girl's family reported the allegations to law enforcement on July 9, 2026. Pritt was initially elected as a Democrat before switching to the Republican Party in 2023.
Authorities also noted that the teacher was accused of blackmailing students for better grades, according to warrants.
Reactions to the charges described the situation as "shocking, disgusting and disappointing in every way." A statement expressed sympathy for Pritt's family and emphasized that if the allegations are true, the law should be fully enforced.
