On Thursday, July 24th, 2026, a Kenmore Air floatplane carrying 11 people made an emergency landing in North Beach Shallow Bay off Sucia Island, Washington, before catching fire, authorities reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard received the report around 5:25 p.m. local time. All 10 passengers and the pilot were accounted for following the incident. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office confirmed multiple injuries ranging from head trauma to broken bones and lacerations.

Kenmore Air stated that four passengers were transported to local hospitals for treatment, with one person in critical condition. The aircraft involved was a de Havilland DHC-3 Otter.

Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel said the company's immediate focus was on those aboard the aircraft. The airline is cooperating fully with investigators and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Authorities extended thanks to the Coast Guard, local emergency responders, and others assisting in the rescue operation. The cause of the emergency landing and subsequent fire remains under investigation.
