Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, stated on Sunday, July 26th, 2026, during an appearance on NBC News’ "Meet the Press" that the United States has "everything that it needs" for military operations against Iran. He dismissed recent reports suggesting that U.S. weapons stockpiles are depleted amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.

"I want to be crystal clear: The U.S. military, and I’ve verified this every which way, has everything that it needs to conduct this campaign as effectively as it needs to be," Waltz said. He also criticized those leaking information about the stockpile, saying they "deserve to be in jail."

Waltz responded to an NBC News report indicating that some Iranian attacks are being allowed through U.S. defenses to preserve the Pentagon’s weapons supply, according to two senior U.S. officials. NBC News has previously reported that U.S. weapons stockpiles are diminishing as the war with Iran continues.

Waltz attributed the depletion of stockpiles to the Biden administration, stating that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "inherited a depleted situation from not only Ukraine, but also the ongoing fight with the Houthis under the Biden administration and a depleted military under the Biden administration."

He contrasted this with the Trump administration's approach, saying it decided to pursue "new types of munitions, cheaper munitions, new technologies," and with new defense budgets, is "rebuilding our great military."

Last week, Hegseth appeared before lawmakers requesting $67 billion in supplemental funding to expand production and speed up delivery of weapons. Waltz criticized the request, saying, "If we had some competent people running this department, you could figure out, how do you defend our nation in a way and give the troops what they need within a reasonable budget? What they’re asking for is not reasonable."

Additionally, it was reported that former President Trump responded affirmatively when asked if he would support the funding request, stating, "if we don’t get 100% of what we want, absolutely."
