Cordarius Hobbs, a 17-year-old Mississippi teen, has been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Billy Blair, 74, and his wife Virginia Carol Blair, 71. The couple was found killed in their Mendenhall, Mississippi home on June 3, 2026.

Local deputies were familiar with Hobbs prior to the murder charges, naming him a suspect in "many" nearby home burglaries and car thefts, according to an incident report obtained by Fox News Digital from the Simpson County Sheriff's Department. The report described Hobbs as a "troubled juvenile" involved in various other crimes in the area.

On the morning of June 3, three contractors arrived at the Blairs' home to install a generator and discovered a car door open with several guns piled on the seats. Carol Blair was found in a bedroom curled in the fetal position, having been shot three times in the back of the head, as stated by a Mississippi Bureau of Investigation investigator in court.

Family members testified during a preliminary hearing in July that Hobbs had previously worked for the Blairs, performing tasks such as cleaning around the house. Hobbs’ grandfather, Billy Newsome, expressed belief that his grandson was called to work on the day of the alleged shooting and maintains his innocence.

The investigation continues as Hobbs faces multiple felony charges related to the case.
