Carly Simon, the celebrated singer-songwriter known for hits like "You're So Vain," "Why," and "Coming Around Again," has revealed she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In a statement provided to the BBC on July 27, 2026, the 83-year-old described the condition's "unpredictable" progression, sharing, "Some days I'm so tired I can't get the day moving at all. On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself."

Simon explained that her health issues began with arthritis in both knees and one hip, which did not improve after three replacement surgeries. Following an extensive evaluation at the Mayo Clinic, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's.

In addition to her Parkinson's diagnosis, Simon disclosed she recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth on her face, which affected her appearance and made her more self-conscious about being seen in public. She reflected on her self-criticism, noting the irony given she wrote "You're So Vain."

Despite these challenges, Simon affirmed, "But I have not stopped living, and I have not stopped working." She announced a new album titled "Comes In Waves," scheduled for release in August 2026.
